Watch Engineer (Q1)
Experienced hotel building engineer skilled in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. Focused on safety, efficiency, and guest comfort in fast-paced New York hospitality environments.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose: To ensure a safe, efficient, well-maintained environment
Reports to: Chief Engineer
Primary Tasks:
Maintain all the refrigeration equipment in the building.
Maintain all HVAC equipment in the building (guestrooms, public areas, function rooms)
Provide technical assistance to other Engineers as necessary.
Work on other equipment as needed.
Maintain inventory and orders HVAC supplies.
Have a thorough understanding of the fire alarm procedures and other emergencies.
Have a thorough understanding of RIU and Engineering Department rules and regulations.
Hotel Specific Primary Tasks:
PRIMARY TASK
Function room HVAC
Clean up
Fill out Daily Work form.
Assist during Hotel emergency
PROCEDURE
Explanation of:
A. Types of Controls.B. Location of unitsC. Types of systems.
Clean all work areas after completing job.
At the end of the day fill out Daily Work form, where you worked throughout the day and the hours you worked.
In case of a fire or other emergency, you must report to the Engineering Office to assist in removing guests from the building or other duties, as may be assigned by the Director of Engineering Services or the Fire Department
STANDARD
To prevent accidents, all areas must be left clean of debris.
Daily Work forms must be filled out daily indicating what was completed and what was not.
All Engineering personnel are responsible for assisting during fires or other emergencies.
PRIMARY TASK
Ordering parts.
A/C for guest rooms.
Chilled system water.
Hot water source.
PROCEDURE
Parts that are needed should be submitted to the Engineer clerk on a requisition with prices, name of company and total price.
Work with Engineers explaining each incremental fan coil unit.
A/C Guest Rooms.
A. Thru wall, central type.
B. Power feeds, what voltage.
C. Procedure of Replacement.
Explanation of:
A. What pumps run for what function room.
B. Valve sequence for guest rooms.
C. Valve sequence for selection of chillers.
Explanation of:
A. Location of all tanks main building.
B. Gas hot water heaters for Buildings.
C. Circulating pumps.
STANDARD
Stock of certain items is mandatory. Inventory sheets in use for general gusts room supplies, A/C, refrigeration parts, laundry equipment supplies.
Watch Engineer will be knowledgeable of all systems throughout the hotel.
PRIMARY TASK
Beginning Shift.
Daily work.
Maintenance on equipment.
Emergency repairs.
PROCEDURE
Clock in at the time clock assigned.
Read log book from last shift you worked to present. Write location of where you are working or what radio/pager you are carrying on the blackboard.
Receive daily work assignments from Director of Engineering or Lead Engineer.
Perform planned maintenance on equipment to prolong equipment life and prevent shutdowns.
Be able to solve most emergency and general repair jobs that come up within the Hotel.
STANDARD
All important information must be entered in the log book, i.e. what equipment is running, elevators down, repaired leak, place room out of order. The log book is the means of passing information from day to day.
Jobs are assigned by priorities. These jobs can change accordingly to the needs of the Hotel.
Planned maintenance will be worked on, in between other work assignments.
Using skills you possess in general trades, you will make repairs in a fast, efficient, professional manner.
Pay: $42.17 per hour
